Springtown is a series of color portrait photographs that reflect the ethos of the Ozark community in which I grew up and to which I belong. The images reveal a complex, curious, and often disarming view of the rapt attention between photographer and subject – fostered by a mutual regard for looking and for being seen. This oscillating event broadcasts desire and encapsulates the tension that is as palpable as it is fundamental to the act of making a portrait.
